What would a Leis family trip be without an ear infection for one daughter. It could have taken hours but Kathy and Julia's French turned it into a free 20-minute visit.
Luong Prabang is a world heritage site with French colonial architecture. It is right along Mekong River. Our guide is again great. Was a Buddhist monk for a while so we are learning a lot from all the Buddhist temples. As important, Beer Lao is one of the country's best exports.
This is a most relaxed place but largely off the grid for Americans. Tonight we celebrate New Years at a special dinner and show.

Gist got caught up on your recent blogs. Sounds like a great time. The temple visits remind me of my first trip to Spain and Italy with Steph and students. I said at. One point, seen one cathedral and you've seen them all. Sounds like you are having a great time. Best to all and Happy New Year.

Happy New Years, Kathy, Al, and Julia. Have loved reading your blog. Thank you for doing it. Will look forward to pictures and more info. Our friends, the Forsgrens from Cleveland, are here -- a last minute decision on their part. We are thrilled to see them. Mb is back in NYC and Kevin is off until Jan. 2. It has been very relaxing. The Christmas decorations will be up through January 8.
